父親も母親も演歌好きで、幼い頃より演歌歌手になるのが夢だった。小学校の高学年あたりから人前で歌うようになり、高校生になって初めてカラオケ大会に出場した。そして、最優秀歌唱賞を受賞したり、あるテレビ番組の夏の高校生大会に出場しA賞を受賞したりした。
1991年、ビクターエンタテインメントよりデビュー。
1993年にポニーキャニオン、2000年に日本クラウンへ移籍。
